Level 2: Colorations that last up to 24 shampoos

Semi-permanent hair color products give you longer lasting color and more dramatic changes:

They last up to 24 shampoos.  A natural tone-on-tone change is possible for up to three shades.  In addition, they are available in a wide range of fashion colors.  The first grey hairs are covered reliably.

These products also contain special care ingredients, such as fortifying vitamins and keratin proteins.

How to recognize them: The package always contains at least two components.  You must first mix the two together before applying the color.  Once mixed, products must be applied immediately.

Here’s how they work:
This group combines temporary and permanent color:
One part of the dye attaches to the hair surface (for a detailed explanation see Level 1: Temporary Color).  Then the following chemical reaction occurs:

Step 1: An alkalizing agent (ammonia or monoethanolamine) does the preliminary work – it causes hair to expand slightly so that the ingredients and colorants can easily penetrate hair.
Step 2: The oxidative agents (hydrogen peroxide) are mixed with the dye – the tiny preliminary colorants penetrate into the hair’s inner cortex.  There they react with the oxidative agents.
Step 3: This chemical reaction causes the tiny preliminary particles to expand into large colorant molecules.  These are now so large that they cannot leave the hair interior.  Caring products smooth the hair surface again, making your new color shine brilliantly.

This group of hair color products is also called semi-permanent oxidative hair color.  The color lasts over a longer period of time, because the pigments are sealed in the interior of the hair.  The outer color molecules are rinsed out.

Color Shampoos and Intensive Soft Toners
These have little in common with regular dyes.  This product contains a very low portion of oxidative agents.  Therefore, the formula is gentle to hair structure.  You can add a nuance of color to your hair or introduce fashionable accents.  First grey hairs are also covered.  This moderate color change washes out again in up to 24 shampoos.
Palette offers a demi-permanent Color Shampoo.  This gentle product gives you natural-looking color and healthy shine.  It can also reliably cover the first signs of grey.
